LACF’s E3 Youth Philanthrophy

E3 Youth Philanthropy Logo

The E3 Youth Philanthropy Program brings together local high school students to help realize their vision and hopes for social change.

E3, also known as E-Cubed, seeks to educate, engage, and empower local youth to effect positive change in their local and global communities through service learning, leadership training, and grant making activities.  E3 is one of three youth-oriented programs sponsored by the Los Altos Community Foundation.

Donate to E3

E3 participants are residents of Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, or Mountain View or attend a high school in one of these three communities. The program begins in mid-August each year and continues through May. Throughout the year, program members:

  • Develop leadership and communication skills
  • Design and participate in service projects
  • Research and connect with local nonprofit organizations
  • Learn from local philanthropists about the potential impact of giving
  • Become effective grant-makers and strategic youth philanthropists

Each E3 student is a Board Member. The Board is organized into New Board, Advisory Board, and Leadership Board. The Leadership Board is selected by the Program Director based on application and previous Board activity. The Advisory Board is comprised of returning students. New Board members are new to the program. E3 currently has 25 members spanning 9th-12th grades representing local public and private high schools. The group is supported by a Director Fund by LACF.

Students commit to the E3 program for two years but are asked to reapply at the end of each school year. Students may participate for their four years in high school. The group meets twice a month from 7:00-9:00 pm.

All members participate in service projects (weekends and/or evenings) throughout the year.
