Why work with us
Estate planners, financial planners, and other professional advisors are often faced with a delicate dilemma: You want to discuss the many benefits of charitable giving with your clients, but you want to avoid recommending specific charitable causes or organizations. Or perhaps you have a client that wants to include charitable giving in his or her plan, but is not ready to commit to the specific charities yet. That’s where we fit in.
Los Altos Community Foundation can help your clients give to the issues they care about most while taking advantage of federal and state tax benefits. We also help integrate charitable giving within estate and financial plans, facilitate anonymous giving, and assist with complex gift instruments and provide mechanisms for your clients to change their charitable beneficiaries without constantly amending their estate plans.
While some donors understand fully the causes they want to support, others look to us for guidance in determining where community needs are greatest. We are always available to answer questions and to help donors make informed giving decisions.
- We partner with you. We provide support, information, and expertise around charitable giving options; think of us as your own planned giving center. You stay in control of your client relationships; we can work with you in the background or join you at the table with your client.
- We help you build stronger relationships. Your clients will appreciate the charitable impact and tax advantages you help them achieve by working with the Community Foundation.
- We help you connect across generations. When you help families establish a fund at the Foundation, you begin an ongoing process of involvement with current and future generations.
Starting the discussion with your clients
How can I recommend charity without recommending a charity? Fortunately, there’s a simple solution: your local community foundation. A community foundation is a single, trusted vehicle your clients can use to address the issues they care about most, while gaining maximum tax benefit under state and federal law. We offer a variety of flexible, giving options, including the ability to set up a charitable fund in your client’s name. Ways your client can give
Clients can give now or give later through estate planning. By giving to Los Altos Community Foundation (LACF), your clients will receive personal, flexible service while knowing that they are supporting their Foundation’s work to improve our local communities, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, and Mountain View. Read about giving options to LACF.
LACF is a 501(c)(3) public charity, allowing your clients to be eligible for maximum tax benefits under law.
