Board Bio – Marilyn Manning Lonergan

Dr. Marilyn Manning Lonergan is the founder and CEO of The Consulting Team, a firm specializing in conflict mediation, strategic planning, and organizational and leadership development. She has served on the LACF board since 2011 and currently chairs our development committee.

Marilyn was introduced to the Foundation through her longtime friendship with LACF Founders Roy and Penny Lave.   Since she serves on El Camino Hospital’s Planned Giving Council, Roy asked Marilyn to help him set up a planned giving program for LACF.   She enthusiastically agreed and started to attend board meetings, finding that she really loved the organization and the people involved.  A year later Marilyn was asked to join the LACF board.

Always smiling and full of energy, Marilyn’s dedication to her community does not stop at LACF.  She holds seats on two other local boards:  the El Camino Hospital Foundation Board, where she chairs the governance committee, and Palo Alto University, where she serves as a trustee.  Palo Alto University, a non-profit educational institution, has a psychology training clinic in Los Altos.

Since losing her husband Seth, Marilyn has remarried a wonderful philanthropic man from San Francisco, Richard Lonergan, who is also a dedicated community volunteer.  Richard serves on the boards of Los Altos Stage Company (formerly Bus Barn Theater), Palo Alto University, SPUR, and the New Century Chamber Orchestra.

As Marilyn said, “We live in Mountain View now, but I lived in Los Altos and Los Altos Hills most of my adult life, so I feel very connected to the Foundation and its mission to serve all three of our communities”.  Marilyn’s children Melissa and Scott both graduated from LAHS.  LACF feels very fortunate to have Marilyn on its board.
