Private Foundations Demonstrate Local Commitment through Los Altos Community Foundation

LACommunityFoundationlogoSeveral local leading private foundations have recently shown their commitment to the local community through contributions to the Los Altos Community Foundation (LACF).  These include the Heising-Simons, Brin Wojcicki, Grove, and Morgan Family Foundations.

The Heising-Simons Foundation, which will soon move its offices to the second floor of the new 400 Main St. building, has partnered with LACF in two ways. The foundation contributed to two of LACF’s incubated projects, MVLA Scholars, which provides scholarships for students who are often the first in their family to attend college and the Neutra House, the local conference facility that is used for more than 100 corporate, community, and nonprofit meetings and events a year.

In addition, the Heising-Simons Foundation contributed to LACF’s Community Grants Fund.  The Fund is administered by LACF and provides grants to local non-profits and programs that benefit Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and surrounding communities.

The Heising-Simons contribution builds on the local grantmaking support that the David and Lucile Packard Foundation has provided to LACF since 2007.

“We are proud to partner with LACF to strengthen our local community,” said Heising-Simons Executive Director Deanna Gomby. “We are grateful to be able to leverage LACF’s deep knowledge of the local community to make a difference in our own backyard.”

Similar to the Heising-Simons Foundation, the Brin Wojcicki, Grove, and Morgan Family Foundations all focus on a breadth of initiatives. Each has recently given grants to LACF that will be used to benefit the community.

“We are honored that these top-tier foundations have partnered with LACF through their grants,” said Joe Eyre, LACF Executive Director. “Their investment will be put to good use through LACF’s programs and services that address local needs and build community.”

Los Altos Community Foundation strengthens community by stimulating local philanthropy and civic engagement in Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, and Mountain View.  LACF incubates and manages community-building programs, grants to local non-profits, manages philanthropic funds, and leads and convenes the community to address opportunities and needs.
