Frequently Asked Questions

Our organization received a grant from the Foundation in Fall 2021; are we eligible to apply?

Yes, if your organization primarily focuses on the needs of vulnerable senior citizens, or you are already working on a program for that population, you may apply. (The Foundation proactively awarded general operating support grants in Fall 2021 to several local legacy grantees.)

When is the next grant round?

We will open a round for general operating support in Fall 2022. There will not be a specific focus area for that round. We do anticipate a larger number of applications in the Fall, so we encourage applications in the Spring if your organization is eligible.

Our area of expertise isn’t mentioned in your list of interest areas. Are we eligible?

If your organization primarily focuses on the needs of vulnerable senior citizens, or you are already working on a program for that population, you may apply. We listed several areas of interest, but it is not an exhaustive list. We encourage you to describe how your service addresses one or more specific areas of vulnerability.

We don’t already have a senior-related program in mind. Is it worth it for us to start one?

We do not recommend starting a new program unless it exists in a different location and you are applying for funds to do additional outreach and provide service in Los Altos, Mountain View, and/or Los Altos Hills.

Our organization has a regional/Bay Area focus; are we eligible?

The Foundation Community Grants committee prioritizes funding for organizations serving residents in Los Altos, Mountain View, and/or Los Altos Hills. We also recognize that many issues, particularly related to health services, housing, transportation, etc,. are regional ones that may require resources, volunteers, and coordination from neighboring cities. Please indicate how you would gather information about the location of those you will serve with the grant funding.

I would like to be on your email list to be notified of future grant opportunities and other information, how do I sign up?

Please email grants@losaltoscf.org and we will add you to the list. We do not share this list with anyone outside the Foundation.
